The bizhub Lions put themselves in a very strong position at the top of the MiWay T20 Challenge log when they beat the Chevrolet Knights by 7 wickets with 4 balls to spare in Potchefstroom last night.
They now have 24 points from 7 matches which puts them 5 points ahead of the Nashua Titans and 6 points ahead of the Knights from the same number of matches.
However, Knights CEO Johan van Heerden indicated that they would not accept the result of the match and would be taking it up with Cricket South Africa (CSA) following two floodlight failures during the Lions innings that changed the latter's target.
The star for the Lions was all-rounder Chris Morris who first took 4/22 to help restrict the Knights to a total of 136/9 in a match that had been reduced to 18 overs per side.
Morris then smashed 21 off 7 balls as the Lions chased down a revised total of 90 in 12 overs following floodlight failures.
The other match between the New Age Impi and the Sunfoil Dolphins in Benoni was washed out without a ball being bowled.
