High drama in European footbal

Juventus won its 28th Serie A title and first in 9 years on Sunday after defeating Cagliari 2-0 to stay unbeaten and second-place AC Milan lost 4-2 to Inter Milan in the next-to-last round of the season.

It is Juventus' first league championship since 2003, with its two titles since then being revoked because of match-fixing.

In the English Premiership: Manchester City moved to within touching distance of a first English league title in 44 years after Yaya Toure scored twice in a 2-0 win at Newcastle.

Man United beat Swansea City 2-nil as well to remain level on points with City.

However, United trail be 8 goals on goal difference with their final game against Sunderland.

Man City now know that all they have to do is beat relegation-threatened QPR in their final game to lift the premiership.

Meanwhile: Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay has said interim manager Roberto di Matteo will have to wait until after the Champions League final to discover if he will be given the job on a permanent basis.

Blues captain John Terry has made it clear Chelsea's players are backing di Matteo after he lead the club to a 2-1 win over Liverpool in Saturday's FA Cup final at Wembley.
