Gunners up to 4th in Premiership


Arsenal's hopes of Champions League qualification received a major boost last night as Thomas Vermaelen's injury-time goal gave them a 2-1 win over Newcastle United in front of 60-thousand delirous fans at the Emirates Stadium.
Hatem Ben Arfa put Newcastle ahead after 14 minutes, but Robin Van Persie levelled within a minute.
Arsenal had chance after chance to win it before Vermaelen volleyed home in the fifth minute of injury-time.

The win leaves the Gunners a point behind rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who are third, with Chelsea 3 points back in 5th.

Newcastle are eight points back in sixth, their hopes of a top-four finish diminishing rapidly.

There's one game in the premiership tonight when 7th placed Liverpool host 9th placed Everton at Anfield.
