Snooker ace, Charl Jonck of Gqeberha, has been crowned the 2024 All Africa Seniors Snooker Champion.
He competed in the tournament at the Wanderers Snooker Club in Johannesburg this week, where players from Mauritius, Egypt, Tanzania, and Morocco also participated.
Jonck played four round-robin matches and won them all 3-0
“I made the highest break of the tournament of 128 against Farhad Sayfoo, from Mauritius,” he said.
His good form continued into the knockout phase of the tournament winning 3-0 in the last 16, 4-0 in the quarter-final, and 4-1 in the semi-final against Naitali Mourad of Morocco.
He competed in the final against compatriot, Mutalieb Alie from Cape Town, winning 4-2 to claim his first All-Africa title, having won the SA title in 2022 and 2023.
Jonck, who plays out of the Diaz Club, also won a ticket to attend the 2025 World Senior Snooker Championships in Sheffield, England in May next year.
