The World Cup in Qatar has reached the business end after a thrilling conclusion to the Round of 16 stage on Tuesday night.

Portugal served notice that they are a real contender as they demolished Switzerland 6-1.

Goncalo Ramos scored a hat-trick in his first World Cup start, as Cristiano Ronaldo was left on the bench, to send Portugal through to the quarterfinals for the first time in 16 years.

There they will meet Morocco who earlier stunned former champions Spain 3-0 on penalties after their match had finished goalless at the end of extra time.

Spain were abysmal in the penalty shoot-out, missing all their spot kicks as Achraf Hakimi struck the decisive penalty for Morocco.

Morocco are the first Arab nation to make the World Cup quarter-finals, with their previous best a last-16 exit in 1986.

The quarter-final line up looks like this:

Friday 9 December at 5 pm: Croatia vs Brazil

Friday 9 December at 9 pm: Netherlands vs Argentina

Saturday 10 December at 5 pm: Morocco vs Portugal

Saturday 10 December at 9 pm: England against France.
