Roger Federer set a new record of 234 Grand Slam match wins on Wednesday to reach the French Open last 32 where he was joined by top seed Novak Djokovic.
The third seeded Federer beat Romania's Adrian Ungur in four sets to go past Jimmy Connors' long-standing record of 233 grand slam wins.
The Fed will next face Nicolas Mahut of France for a place in the last 16.
Djokovic had no trouble with a routing 6-0, 6-4, 6-4 win over Slovenia's Blaz Kavcic.
South Africa's Kevin Anderson put out Argentine qualifier Horacio Zeballos in four sets and will now play Czech seventh seed Thomas Berdych in the the third round.
In ladies play, South Africa's Chanelle Scheepers bowed out 6 3 6 3 to Nadia Patrova in the second round.
