Proteas captain Faf du Plessis admitted his team were comprehensively outplayed by England in their Cricket World Cup opener on Thursday.
Hosts England made 311/8 after being sent in to bat by Du Plessis before bowling out the South Africans for 207 to start their campaign with an emphatic 104-run victory at The Oval.
Speaking post-match on Supersport, Du Plessis lamented the injury to Hashim Amla who left the field early with a concussion but returned later, but Faf said England were better in all three facets of the game.
The Proteas will play their next match on Sunday against Bangladesh.
