EP Kings extend lead at the summit

The Eastern Province Kings have opened up an eight-point lead at the top of the Absa Currie Cup First Division standings with six rounds remaining following their comprehensive 57-19 victory over defending champions Boland in Port Elizabeth on Friday night.

The Pumas powered their way into second place thanks to a 38-27 victory in Nelspruit over the Leopards, who slip to fourth as a result.

The SWD Eagles came from behind to beat the Border Bulldogs 33-27 in East London to move into third.

The Griffons, who set the early pace in the competition after winning their opening four matches, find themselves in fifth place after four defeats on the trot.

The Kings are in George this friday against SWD and the Bulldogs take on the Valke in Kempton Park on Saturday.
