Masixole Mkrakra, Silver Award Participant in The President’s Award for Youth Empowerment
Programme and member of the Tiger Titan Cricket Club in Nolukhanyo Township outside Bathurst, has
been invited to speak at a Gala Dinner at Lords Cricket Ground in London. The dinner will take place on
Wednesday, 21 March 2012. This follows an invitation to Tiger Titans Founder, Ross McCreath to speak
at the same venue, in March 2010. Masixole is currently in Grade 11 at Velile Secondary School in the
Eastern Cape.
The invitation, extended by Dr Trevor Carmichael QC, Honorary Chairman of The Duke of Edinburgh’s
Award World Fellowship, indicated that the dinner would highlight sport as a tool for community
development. The dinner will be attended by HRH, Prince Edward, The Earl of Wessex who is Chairman
of the International Council of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Association. The dinner will
also be attended by sporting heroes who have achieved personal ambitions and in many cases gained
national and international recognition.
