Durban to host the Commonwealth Games in 2022

Durban has just been announced hosts of the Commonwealth Games 2022.

The games will open on the 18th of July 2022. 

The event is expected to cost more than R2-billion and marks the first time ever that an African country hosts the Commonwealth Games. 

Durban was the only candidate after Edmonton in Canada withdrew from the race in February, saying it would be too expensive to host the games.
