Proteas captain Faf du Plessis says JP Duminy has been dropped ahead of the second Test against England starting in Nottingham on Friday.
There is speculation that Duminy’s Test career could be over, and being dropped seems to confirm that suspicion.
Duminy has come under intense scrutiny after scoring just 65 runs in his last five innings, including scores of 15 and 2 in the first Test which South Africa lost by 211 runs at Lord’s in four days on Sunday.
The all-rounder was not called on to bowl in the first innings, while part-timers Theunis de Bruyn and Temba Bavuma each bowled five overs as England scored 458. In the second innings on a turning wicket, Duminy bowled nine overs but did not take a wicket.
After 46 Tests, Duminy averages just 32 with the bat and has taken just 42 wickets – less than a wicket per game. – African News Agency (ANA)
