Djokovic sets up Anderson final showdown after edging Nadal in two-day thriller

July 14 (ANA) – Novak Djokovic defeated Rafael Nadal to set-up a Wimbledon final against Kevin Anderson with a 6-4 3-6 7-6 (9) 3-6 7-6 (8) semifinal win at the All England Club on Saturday.

The 12th seeded Serb Djokovic arrived on centre court earlier on Saturday with a 2-1 set advantage after play was suspended on Friday night. The 2nd seeded Spaniard Nadal had claimed a 6-3 second set win on Friday.

The win allows Djokovic to edge ahead 27-25 in the head-to-head clashes of two of the game's all-time greats.

Djokovic will now meet the 8th seeded South African Anderson in Sunday's final. Djokovic has already won the Wimbledon title three times.

As a result of the delay caused by Friday's marathon Anderson - John Isner semifinal on Friday, the women's final between Serena Williams and Angelique Kerber started two hours later.  – African News Agency (ANA)
