Diski Challenge heads to Mdantsane in Eastern Cape this weekend

EAST LONDON, November 30 (ANA) – In line with the tournament’s founding promise of taking football to the people, the MultiChoice Diski Challenge is visiting another area that has been starved of top flight football for two decades now; Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape.

Mdantsane, just outside East London, is the country’s second biggest township. This weekend, as the Premier Soccer League (PSL) together with partners MultiChoice, descend to the Sisa Dukashe Stadium, thousands of people in the area are expected to flock to the stadium to be part of the inaugural Diski Festival to be staged in the area.

The festival is set to take place this weekend, December 3-4, with two matches scheduled for Saturday and a further two on Sunday. Gates open at 9am on both days.

Entry into the stadium is free on both days – with a valid ticket. Tickets will be available at the stadium’s ticket office on Thursday and Friday from 1-6pm.

This weekend’s festival will be the Diski Challenge’s final match day before the December recess and all clubs will be looking to finish the first half of the season on a high.

Mamelodi Sundowns currently occupy top spot having deposed early season pace-setters Bidvest Wits. They have subsequently opened up a four-point gap to second- placed Bloemfontein Celtic.

The young Brazilians will be looking to consolidate the lead when they take on the home team, Chippa United.

Other fixtures in the festival include Platinum Stars against Bloemfontein Celtic, SuperSport United versus Orlando Pirates (Saturday) and Maritzburg United facing off with Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday.

Fans attending and those watching live on SuperSport 4 and Select (Channel 210) stand a chance of winning a trip for two to Netherlands accompanying the winning team.

Competition details are available on the competition’s social media pages, Asidlali on Facebook and @Asidlali on Twitter, as well as at the start of the live broadcast on SuperSport 4. – African News Agency (ANA)
