Uncapped 21-year-old fast bowler Marchant de Lange has been included in South Africa's squad for next week's first test against Sri Lanka.
The Proteas also recalled batsman Alviro Petersen to a 13-man group for the match at Centurion.
There was no place for JP Duminy, Paul Harris and Lonwabo Tsotsobe.
De Lange, who has played just 14 first-class games, took 5-56 in an innings for South Africa A against Australia in a four-day game last month - although a thumb injury could limit his chances of appearing at his home ground at Centurion.
