South African wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock was top trending on Tuesday following his decision to withdraw from the World Cup T20 clash against the West Indies in Dubai.
The Board of Cricket SA issued a directive earlier in the day, requiring all Proteas players to adopt a consistent stance against racism by taking the knee prior to the start of their matches.
This is something De Kock was not willing to do and his decision has been noted by CSA.
In a brief statement, Cricket SA said after considering all issues, including freedom of choice and South Africa's history, the board felt that it was imperative for the team to take a united stand.
CSA said they were waiting for a report from team management before deciding on the next step regarding De Kock.
Despite the day's drama off the field, the Proteas got their World Cup campaign back on track with a comfortable 8-wicket win over the West Indies.
Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen guided South Africa to their target with 10 balls to spare - having restricted their opposition to a disappointing total of 143-8..
Reeza Hendricks was included at the top of the order in place of De Kock and gave the innings an early boost with 39 from only 30 balls.
Markram on 51 not out and Rassie van der Dussen, undefeated on 43, then saw the Proteas safely home.
