CSA calls on SA to back Proteas in Cricket World Cup

Proteas WC warm up match against New Zealand

CSA

Cricket South Africa is calling on South Africans to rally behind the Proteas when they open their 2023 World Cup campaign against Sri Lanka in India on Saturday.

Chief Executive Officer, Pholetsi Moseki, wished the squad well and said the nation was eager to see their team shine on the global stage.

"The World Cup is not just another tournament. It's a tapestry of dreams, endeavours, and the indomitable spirit that defines South African cricket."

Moseki urged South Africans to come together in support of the team.

"Let us unite in spirit and voice. Our collective energies can function as the twelfth man, supporting our team in every move."

In a message to the players, Moseki said they were not alone.

“As you wear the green and gold, understand you're not alone. South Africa stands with you, cheering every run, and feeling every heartbeat," he said.

That match gets underway at 10.30 AM SA time at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi.
