A stunning 30-metre thunderbolt from captain Lucky Lekgwathi in injury time lifted Orlando Pirates to a critical 2-1 win over SuperSport United in their Absa Premiership match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday night.
The top spot on the Premiership table was on the line.
The result meant SuperSport occupied the third position on 48 points while Pirates edged ahead into the top spot on 52 points.
Second placed Mamelodi Sundowns, on 49 points, have a game in hand and are away to Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Wednesday night.
Amazulu and Martizburg United drew one-all in Pietermartizburg.
