Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United agree to part ways

Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United have parted ways, by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.

The club issued a brief statement on Tuesday thanking the player for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances.

This follows just weeks after an explosive interview with Piers Morgan where he criticised the club's owners.

In August of 2021, Manchester United re-signed Ronaldo paying a transfer of £12.85 million.

Ronaldo took to Twitter following the announcement to express his love for the club and its fans.

He further stated that this felt like the right time for him to seek a new challenge.

Ronaldo is currently playing for Portugal in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
