Shane Warne: by @talksport
Australian cricket legend and the greatest leg-spinner of all-time, Shane Warne, has died of a suspected heart attack at the age of 52.
Fox news broke the story that Warne had passed away in Thailand in the early hours of Saturday morning, Australia standard time.
Warne’s management released a brief statement, that he passed away of a suspected heart attack.
“Shane was found unresponsive in his villa in Thailand and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived,” the statement reads.
“The family requests privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course.
Warne was an avid user of Twitter and the social media platform lit up within minutes of his passing being confirmed as official.
One of the first tweets of condolence to come through was from Australian Rugby Union star Matt Giteau who described Warne as a true Aussie legend gone too soon.
Warne, who was named as one of Wisden's Five Cricketers of the Century, claimed 708 Test wickets in a 15-year career for Australia between 1992 and 2007 and was also a World Cup winner in 1999.
The shocking news comes hours after the death of another icon of Australian cricket, former wicketkeeper Rod Marsh, who also suffered a heart attack earlier this week at the age of 74.
???????? A true Aussie legend gone too soon. Another very sad reminder to maximize the days we have ????

RIP Warney @ShaneWarne ????????????????
@Bridgenorth summed Shane Warne up perfectly with the following tweet; " It just goes to show how much Shane Warne was loved in the cricketing world when you've got the whole of English Twitter nearly in tears testament to the person not one bad comment just absolutely gutted says it all."
Ironically, Warne had tweeted earlier this week that it was time for 'operation shred' to begin. He showed a photograph of himself clearly overweight on a beach, and then photographs of his glory days as a player and alluded to wanting to get back into that kind of shape again.
Terribly saddened and shocked to hear the news that Shane Warne has died. The greatest spin bowler of all time. Can’t quite believe it. RIP Shane
