Crazy day in Perth as 12 wickets fall

Twelve wickets fell on a sensational opening day of the third and deciding test match between South Africa and Australia in Perth.

South Africa did well to muster 225 all out after deciding to bat on a bowler-friendly Waca wicket.

The Proteas were in big trouble at 75 for six but Faf du Plessis came to the rescue again with a knock of 78 not out.

He received valuable support from Robin Petersen who made 31 batting at number 7 and Vernon Philander who made 30 batting at number 8.

In reply, Australia struggled to 33 for 2 at stumps as Dale Steyn removed Ed Cowan for a duck and Philander got rid of Shane Watson for 10.

David Warner resumes tomorrow on 12 alongside the night watchman Nathan Lyon on 7.
