luc eymael: jacarandafm
Port Elizabeth-based Premier Soccer League outfit Chippa United says its formally withdrawn the appointment of the Belgian, Luc Eymael, as head coach.
Eymael courted controversy and public outrage and was fired back in July after referring to Young Africans FC supporters in Tanzania as monkeys and dogs.
Chippa United says in a statement released on Thursday afternoon that when processes are complete, a new coaching announcement will be made in due course.
The club says that having announced Eymael's appointment until the end of the season on Wednesday, it considered the public outrage at him coming to Port Elizabeth.
Chippa said it would like to clarify that the initial decision to make this appointment was based purely on his track record and that it was felt he was the best person to take the club into the top half of the DSTV Premiership this season.
On Wednesday evening, the South African Football Association (SAFA) vowed to block the issuing of a work permit for Eymael while the Eastern Cape Government also slammed his appointment.
Chippa United had initially appointed Eymael as head coach after parting ways with Lehlohonolo Seema as the club languishes in the relegation zone.
