The Waikato Chiefs have gone to the top of the table after week 8 of the Vodacom Super 15 courtesy of a hard-fought 39-33 win over the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
They are two points ahead of the Stormers with both teams having played seven matches.
The Stormers six-match winning streak came to an end as they lost 31-24 away to the Crusaders.
The Brumbies are up to third after a 37-6 win over the Rebels in Canberra and the Bulls are up to fourth after beating the Lions 32-18 in Johannesburg.
The Sharks made it two wins and two losses on their Australasian tour with a 29-23 win over the Blues in Auckland.
