Former Proteas wicket-keeper Mark Boucher, will head up the Nelson Mandela Bay Stars, the Eastern Cape team in the T20 Global League.

Boucher was unveiled as the head coach on Wednesday along with the team name at a ceremony at the Port Elizabeth City Hall.

He is being supported by Warriors coach, Malibongwe Maketa and former Zimbabwean international, Heath Streak, who will be the team’s bowling coach.

The team will be managed by former Proteas team manager, Goolam Raja.

Graeme Pollock, Makhaya Ntini and Sir Clive Lloyd, have been named team ambassadors.

Imraan Tahir has already been confirmed as the South African marquee player in the team.

The draft for the T20 Global League, which kicks off in November with eight franchises, will be held on Sunday.

Boucher said he was excited to be returning to his roots in the Eastern Cape.

He said he believed that they would be able to put a strong team together at the draft which could consist of 90 international players and as many as 200 domestic players.
