MENDOZA, Argentina, August (ANA) – Duane Vermeulen is a wanted man after the Springboks suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Argentina in Mendoza on Saturday.
Eighthman Vermeulen was one of the stand-out performers when the Boks won the series against Eddie Jones' England during the Incoming Tour two months ago. In view of his decision to play rugby in Japan over the next few months, he was not considered for The Rugby Championship matches against Argentina, Australia and New Zealand.
However, in the light of injuries to loosies Cyle Brink and Jean-Luc du Preez, Bok coach Rassie Erasmus has decided to call on Vermeulen services, according to Sunday newspaper Rapport.
It is likely that Vermeulen will be roped in for the All Blacks clash in the New Zealand capital Wellington on Saturday, 15 September.
