Bay Stars announce hopefuls who will train with the squad
The announcement that 10 players will now train with Bay Stars, Nelson Mandela Bay’s Premier Soccer League hope, was met with great excitement after the conclusion of tough trials that started on Monday at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University South Campus soccer fields.
Lyndsey Jennings (NMMU - goalkeeper), Siyanda Petse (Cacadu – centre back), Vuyisile Manxoyi (Bhisho Young Ideas – left back), Achuma Klaas (NMMU - midfielder), Vusumzi Stamper (Manchester – centre midfield), Moses Setlatjile (Sunshine - striker) and Pele Bika (striker) now have the opportunity to show their mettle when training with Bay Stars.
Coach Graham Harrison also said three players were now part of a Skills Enhancement Programme that will assist with their overall development as players and enhance some areas of their game.
They are Jermaine September from Aspen, Bradley Peterson of Callies and Darryn Bamboo of Glenville.
“The trials were definitely very successful since we started out with 47 hopefuls on Monday,” he added.
Managing Director Tony Lovegrove said the trials forms part of a bigger picture to ensure that Bay Stars identify and nurture the best local talent while working towards its ultimate goal of qualifying for the Premier Soccer League.
“We are looking at several other initiatives next year and we are confident that we will also be able to clinch sponsorships for the team as well,” he added.
Bay Stars remains undefeated after nine matches with only three goals scored against them thus far.
