Banyana coach Ellis pays tribute to fallen heroines

SAFA

Banyana Banyana coach and reigning CAF Coach of the Year, Desiree Ellis, has paid tribute to South Africa’s past heroines for paving the way and for the fruits the current generation is enjoying in the new dispensation.

In a message for Women’s Day, Ellis says it was through the sacrifice of the past heroines that South Africans of all colors and creeds were harmoniously living together in the Rainbow Nation.

‘’Thank you to all the women that have come before us. Your sacrifices have made it possible for all of us to do things we love. We should celebrate each other’s achievements and we must learn to support each other,’’ said Ellis, who led South Africa to their maiden WAFCON title in Morocco last month.

Ellis will be spending Women’s Day at home with her family before flying to Costa Rica to attend a FIFA coach mentorship workshop where she will meet other global coaches.

She said there were various opportunities for women to exploit and by working together, the sky was the limit.

‘’The future belongs to women and if we work together as a united front, we can scale greater heights,’’ she said.
