Bafana Bafana stay on course for World Cup 2022

South Africa moved to the top of Group G in Africa’s 2022 World Cup Qualifying after a late Bongokuhle Hlongwane goal saw them defeat Ghana 1-0 at the FNB Stadium on Monday night.

Bafana Bafana moved to four points – leapfrogging the Black Stars, who remain on three, thanks to Hlongwane’s goal in the 83rd minute.

Hugo Broos’s charges were worthy winners, having been the better team and creating more scoring opportunities through the course of the match.

SA and Ghana will return to Group G action in October, with Bafana Bafana taking on Ethiopia in back-to-back matches and the Black Stars facing Zimbabwe - both home and away.
