South Africa secured a key win in the 2026 Fifa World Cup Qualifiers, as they defeated Zimbabwe 3-1 at the Free State Stadium on Tuesday evening to go joint top of Group C.
The match got off to a thrilling start with both teams scoring in the opening minutes, with SA's goal coming from Iqraam Rayners in the first minute and Zimbabwe equalising a minute later through Tawanda Chirewa
Thapelo Morena meanwhile scored a second-half brace as a substitute to see Bafana Bafana to their second win, which brought them level on seven points with Rwanda and Benin at the top of the standings.
Morena was also named Man of the Match.
The Warriors, meanwhile, remain winless in the six-team group and are placed last on two points.
