Baby Boks shine as Springboks stutter

The Springboks’ performance in Saturday’s 14-all draw with
England in Port Elizabeth was a step backwards, according to South
African coach Heyneke Meyer.

The side looked flatfooted in damp and windy conditions and Meyer said  tactically his young charges still need to learn how to play in the wet.

He feels they're way behind the other leading countries and will have to catch up quickly ahead of the Rugby Championship in August which also involves Australia, New Zealand, and for the first time Argentina.

Meanwhile: Junior Bok coach Dawie Theron says it was a plan that came together because of a great group of players who refused to accept defeat or mediocrity,  after his team won the IRB Junior Championship at Newlands on Friday night,  beating New Zealand 22-16 in a pulsating final.

Capping it off was 19-year old Port Elizabeth centre Jan Serfontein been  named the IRB Junior Player of the Year 2012.
Serfontein is the first South African to win the Award.
