Port Elizabeth paralympic swimmer Kevin Paul swam his second world record in the space of two days at the SA senior and youth championships, doubling as the Olympic Qualifier, in Durban on Thursday morning.
Paul shattered the old mark of 2 minutes 29.42 by nearly 5 seconds in his 200 breastroke category.
The NMMU law student swam alongside the able bodied swimmers for the express purpose of bettering the world mark and he duly touched in a new world time of 2 minutes 24.23 seconds.
On Tuesday night, Paul bettered the world mark by 200th of a second in his favoured 100-metre breastroke event - the same event in which he won gold at the Beijing Paralympics in 2008.
Paul has now booked his ticket to this year's London paralympics in the 100 metre breastroke and the 50 metre freestyle.
