All the local angling action


The Rock and Surf Super Pro League nationals were held at Port Alfred at the weekend.

959 fish where caught and released over the three day event.

The Biggest fish for the competition was a 45.6kg kob caught by Port Alfred resident Ryan Reeves.

Henning Venter of Boland caught the biggest shark, a raggie weighing 177.5kgs and Mathew Sumner of Southern Cape landed the biggest ray weighing 17.6 kgs.

He was also the leading points scorer overal. Thelma Jonker was the top lady and Daniel Dickinson the top junior.

The Top Team for the Tournament was the Border Blacktips.

The Annual Algoa Bay Tuna Classic was concluded on Saturday - Eastern Province junior angler 1st was Carla Schmidt winning with a Yellow Fin Tuna weighing in at 19.4kg.

2nd place went to Mellissa de Villiers with a Yellow Fin of 18.4kg.

Both fish where caught on the first day of the competition back on Thursday on the boat "Sea Devil" skipped by Colin de Villiers.
