EP Rugby Union President Cheeky Watson says the Southern Kings being awarded Super Rugby status in 2013 will have a major positive impact on players in the region.
Speaking at a media briefing at the the EPRU offices in Port Elizabeth yesterday, Watson said the King's may have lost 33-20 to the Cheetahs in East London on Saturday - but the performance by the team made up primarily of SWD and Border players, had been hugely encouraging.
Watson said the structure of the Super Rugby competition in 2013 would be finalised in March following comfirmation of the Kings' participation by SARU back on Friday.
The Southern Kings play the Blue Bulls in their second pre-season friendly at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.
