Queenie Grootboom

Queenie is Algoa FM's ball of love. There’s simply no other way to describe Queenie who has over 20 years of experience in the industry. She loves her listeners as much as she loves flowers, the moon, sunsets, cartoons, ships out at sea, the sky (whether it’s day or night) good friends, her family, wildlife, animals, in particular animals rescue and even, yes, spiders and snakes. 

Her welcoming positive and caring personality is well aligned with the values of the Algoa FM team who sincerely relate to and care about their listeners and the community. Queenie personifies this element of the radio station. It comes across richly in everything she says and does on air from 10 pm to 2 am from Sundays to Thursdays. Queenie has a keen eye for the unusual, capturing life’s rarest and great moments through her photography, intuition and her broadcasts.
