East London charity, Guardians of Hope, has been selected as the beneficiary for Algoa FM golf day. The non-profit organization provides a safe home for vulnerable babies.

Over 7 000 supporters of the 2021 Virtual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer raised sufficient funds to pay for a brand-new transporter for the Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa (CHOC), as well as sporting equipment for a rural club.

Algoa Country’s favourite morning show presenter, Wayne Hart, is in critical condition at a private hospital in Nelson Mandela Bay. Wayne was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday evening after complaining earlier that day of a stomach ache.

It is a dream come true for Lusanda Mafanya, who has won a R100 000 bursary from the new International Hotel School Gqeberha campus, in a tense and exciting weekend cook-off. After entering through Algoa FM, he competed against 9 other aspirant chefs who all qualified for a R30 000 bursary towards their culinary studies.

Early risers in the Eastern Cape and Garden Route will wake up to a new voice on Algoa FM – the multi-talented Craig Ross.

Requests to Algoa FM to extend its broadcast footprint into the Garden Route from local businesses and listeners led to the station applying for a licence to expand its transmitter network to include the region 10 years ago. “A big ‘thank you' to all those who invited Algoa FM to be a part of their community a decade ago,” says Algoa FM managing director Alfie Jay.
