Early risers in the Eastern Cape and Garden Route will wake up to a new voice on Algoa FM – the multi-talented Craig Ross.
He will be on air from five to six in the morning on weekdays from Monday, January 10.
The recruitment of Ross is part of the station’s ongoing strategy to ensure that the station continues to offer fresh entertainment to its listeners, according to programme manager Baydu Adams.
“I’m really excited for what 2022 has in store for Algoa FM.
“Because we’re a constantly evolving brand, it means we tweak a few things every now and then for a pleasurable listener experience and in response to the feedback we get through our ongoing market research,” he says.
Former early morning presenter Siobhan Momberg is now presenting the Sunday morning breakfast show between six and nine in the morning, and “is loving it.
“Siobhan is a morning person, so this time slot sees her at her best. She requested a bit of a breather from waking up at four every weekday morning and we were happy to oblige,” says Adams.
Ross, who matriculated from Muir College in Kariega (formerly Uitenhage), entered the world of broadcasting while working in the United Kingdom where he went “to discover the world,” he says.
He worked as a radio presenter, professional voice artist, master of ceremonies, and audio engineer.
“Craig Ross is no stranger to Algoa FM, having worked on-air with us some years ago as a youngster. We are looking forward to having him on air during weekday mornings,” says Adams.
Ross describes himself as “a gifted sportsman, accomplished pianist, outdoor gym and garden junkie, food lover and ardent chocoholic”.
Back in South Africa, he has worked on a number of community radio stations, is the voice on “hundreds” of advertisements, and is the station voice for five online stations and around South Africa.
The other change is that Roch-Lè Bloem has returned to her Saturday afternoon slot from midday to three in the afternoon.
“Because she simply fits into that slot with ease and owns it.
“These talented presenters are all extremely passionate about their shows and make listening to Algoa FM a real pleasure. I’m honoured to have them on my team,” says Adams.
