It’s Algoa FM Winter Woolly Week Time Again!

With winter already in full swing, families are heading to the shops to stock themselves with warm clothes and blankets. Community Chest and Algoa FM’s aim with their annual fundraising Winter Woolly Week is to remind those who are fortunate enough to secure their own warmth that there is a bigger majority who will remain cold throughout this winter.
For the first time in 15 years, Algoa FM will be extending its outreach across its footprint to reach East London and the Garden Route. Giving rise to this extension, is the recent merger of Community Chest of the Nelson Mandela Metropole and the East London Community Chest as well as the extension of Algoa FM’s footprint into the Garden Route in December last year.
Caltex, GMSA, Finro Jumbo and Nampak have come on board as sponsors, joining hands with Algoa FM and Community Chest, calling on the generous and warm-spirited community of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro and beyond to support the underprivileged in their communities.
Once again Algoa FM and Community Chest is making it easy for residents to open their hearts to those left in the cold.  Collection boxes for blankets and warm clothing will be placed at all Caltex garages in the Nelson Mandela Metropole, East London and George. Collection boxes will be stationed from 11 – 15 June 2012. In addition, Algoa FM is hosting a special Winter Woolly Week Activation Collection on Tuesday, 12 June 2012.  For this reason Algoa FM and Community Chest appeals to the public to bring some spare winter woollies with them in the car on Tuesday morning, between 6.30am and 7.45am.
KayCee Rossouw will be collecting at the intersection of Stanford Road and Aubrey Street, whilst Wayne Hart will be at Moffet-on-Main and Drew can be spotted at the Five Ways intersection on Cape Road.  The East London community can watch out for Gordon Graham at the intersection of Devereux Avenue and Chamberlain Street whilst George can keep an eye open for Charlton Tobias who will be in George at the Caltex Garages in York Street and Courtney Street.
Should there be any eager supporters who don’t have any of the much needed spare warm clothing or blankets to share, the presenters will have a donation tin handy too.  These collection tins form part of Community Chest’s e-pap project aimed at feeding the many hungry people in the community. For more information on Winter Woolly Week or how you can support, please feel free to contact Colette, PRO for Community Chest, on (041) 582 1592.
