Bubbly Algoa FM senior account executive Lesley-Ann Fortuin has been recognised as one of the “Top 40 under 40” business achievers in the metro by the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber.
“These promising young individuals represent the growing force of people under the age of 40 who see Nelson Mandela Bay’s potential. Young entrepreneurs have a critical role to play in the global economy, and they have the potential to help grow a vibrant economy in Nelson Mandela Bay,” says Top 40 Under 40 convener Nicole Klokow.
“Lesley-Ann – or ‘Bubbles’ as she is fondly known in the corridors of Algoa FM is truly a top achiever,” says sales manager Dennis Karantges.
“Thanks to her commitment to her clients and creative approach to initiating innovative advertising packages she has exceeded her annual targets by over 25 per cent,” he says.
“I believe that my ability to ‘think out of the box,’ adapt to various market conditions and industries coupled with my belief in my own abilities, never-say-die attitude, eagerness to learn and ability to adapt in a constantly changing media landscape has played a huge role in the success that I’ve enjoyed as a member of the Algoa FM sales team,” says Lesley-Ann.
She has twice been account executive of the year.
“What makes Lesley-Ann’s achievement even more remarkable is her background. We are really proud of her,” says Algoa FM managing director Dave Tiltmann.
Lesley-Ann was head girl of the Oosterland Youth Centre in her matric year and elected as a prefect at the Despatch High School.
“I’ve moved up the ranks from being a receptionist to successful senior account executive at Algoa FM relatively fast,” she says.
Lesley-Ann has not forgotten her roots in the community.
“Paying it forward to those less fortunate than us is incredibly important and I’ve been very fortunate that I’ve been able to contribute to the Eastern Cape and Garden Route communities by helping my clients to incorporate Corporate Social Investment elements into their media campaigns and to contribute to Algoa FM’s CSI initiatives,” she says.
