Kodwa is facing corruption charges amid allegations that he influenced the awarding of the contracts during his time as ANC spokesperson between April 2015 and February 2016.
He has already stepped aside as a member of the National Working Committee and National Executive Committee of the ANC.
ANC spokesperson Zuko Godlimpi says the party received the letter on Thursday.
"The Secretary-General of the ANC, Comrade Fikile Mbalula, has received a letter from Comrade Zizi Kodwa formally communicating his resignation as a Member of Parliament.
I have received a letter from Comrade Zizi Kodwa formally communicating his resignation as a Member of Parliament. The letter is dated 24 July 2024 and the resignation is with immediate effect.

Kodwa announced his immediate resignation from his role as minister after the first court appearance, where he was granted R30,000 bail.
He has denied any wrongdoing and has vowed to prove his innocence in court.
The former minister and his co-accused, EOH Senior Executive, Jehan Mackay appeared in court earlier this week where the matter was postponed to 21 August 2024.
