Several political parties, who form part of a bloc within the ANC-led administration in Nelson Mandela Bay, are calling for the removal of executive mayor, Eugene Johnson.

The calls were made on Wednesday following two court decisions this week and a public spat caught on video at a restaurant between Good Party members, Lawrence Troon and Siyanda Mayana.

The Gqeberha High Court declared the expulsion of three Northern Alliance councillors invalid, while another court ordered the Metro to halt the controversial appointment of Lonwabo Ngoqo as City Manager.

A decision the Bloc says came from Johnson which they have called illegal.

In the video, shared by DA councillor Renaldo Gouws on Facebook, Troon accused Johnson of selling the Municipality.

Her advisor and GOOD Regional Chairperson, Mayana can be heard in the video saying he would "deal with her".

Mayana said the threat was to deal with Johnson politically and not in a violent manner as insinuated.

Good Party councillor, Lawrence Troon, says the Bloc has now decided to write to the Eastern Cape Premier, Oscar Mabuyane to intervene.

"She is just destroying this coalition therefore we call upon the Premier to intervene seriously here. This lady is completely out of depth, you have seen also with all the statements she has made to the media that she does not know what is going on in this Municipality," he added.

Meanwhile, UDM councillor Luxolo Namette says the Bloc cannot sit back while Johnson is breaking all council legislations.

Namette says the Bloc will also write to the ANC to say if they cannot handle their employees then they will take matters into their own hands.

Abantu Integrity Movement (AIM) President and councillor, Khusta Jack says cool heads will have to prevail for all political parties to paddle their way out of their quagmire.
