A badly wounded Joe Biden looked to get his re-election campaign back on track Friday after a debate performance that unnerved supporters and left allies of Donald Trump unable to conceal their glee.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has called a Joint Sitting of the National Assembly (NA) and the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) for the Opening of Parliament. Spokesperson for the Presidency Vincent Magwenya says the President will deliver the Opening of Parliament Address on the 18th of July to outline the priorities of the 7th Administration.

The ANC has confirmed that a total of ten political parties now constitute the Government of National Unity (GNU).

Parliament has confirmed that the oath of office will be administered to the 58 elected Members of the Umkhonto Wesizwe Party on Tuesday. 

United Democratic Movement (UDM) party leader Bantu Holomisa confirmed that his party has accepted the invitation to join the Government of National Unity (GNU). 

The MK said it would join a newly formed parliamentary grouping that includes several mostly leftist opposition parties represented in parliament. Called the "Progressive Caucus" it is currently led by the radical leftist Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), which won 39 seats in the new parliament.

The ANC says an agreement has been reached in terms of the Government of National Unity as a new President will be elected for the country's 7th administration. The ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula addressed the media late last night stating its readiness for today's sitting in parliament.

Khumalo failed in an urgent application to the Electoral Court to get his expulsion from the MK party declared invalid and unlawful, and that he be reinstated as the organisation’s leader with immediate effect. Zuma ousted Khumalo and other MK party leaders weeks before the national and provincial elections.
