In the run up to the 2024 national and provincial elections, ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba on Tuesday officially announced Athol Trollip as the party's premier candidate for the Eastern Cape.
"As the former mayor of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality, he brings with him invaluable understanding of governance in a province which have been hallowed out by the ruling party," Mashaba said during a media briefing.
"He knowns how to efficiently run an administration, and will therefore be able to hit the ground running to fix the province.
"Trollip has a long history of activism in the Eastern Cape and brought that knowledge to ActionSA where he helped launch hundreds of new branches and establish a formidable ground operation to take on the ruling party."
Mashaba also announced Patrica Kopane and Thoko Mashiane and the party's premier candidates in the Free State and Mpumalanga, respectively.
ActionSA's Western Cape representative will be announced at a later date, he said.
Their announcement on Tuesday followed the appointment of Kgosi Kwena Mangope as the party's North West candidate, Zwakele Mncwango, as the KwaZulu-Natal premier candidate, Andrew Louw, as Northern Cape premier candidate and Kgoshi Letsiri Phaahla will represent ActionSA in Limpopo.
