The minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Zizi Kodwa says he has asked for advice on what steps can be taken against the Democratic Alliance's advertisement which shows the burning of the South African flag.
The advert aired last Sunday and is part of their campaign for the upcoming elections
???? This election is about survival! Watch the DA's new TV advert. Your vote can stop a corrupt coalition between the ANC, the violent EFF and the Zuma faction.

In a statement on Tuesday, Kodwa said he has asked for advice from the acting director general, advisors and the legal unit of his department on what steps the government can take when national symbols are disrespected.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has labelled the DA’s latest election advert, which features an image of the South African flag going up in flames, as treason.
The burning of the National Flag in a political advertisement is treasonous. The National Flag is a sacred symbol of our unity and existence as a nation and to burn it is despicable.

The DA's chairperson of the federal council Helen Zille hit back by saying that the advertisement sends out a warning that South Africa will burn to ashes under an ANC/EFF/MK and Patriotic Alliance coalition.
