ANC secretary-general, Ace Magashule, who is facing fraud and corruption charges is unlikely to step down from his position immediately.
The governing party's top six officials briefed the media on the outcome of their meeting after Tuesday's bombshell news that a warrant of arrest was issued for Magashule.
The warrant relates to his alleged involvement in the controversial asbestos deal that was awarded to the Gauteng-based Blackhead Consulting and Diamond Hill Trading joint venture by the Free State Department of Human Settlements in 2014.
The tender, worth R255 million, was set for the assessment, audit and removal of asbestos roofs in the province.
Meanwhile, the seven suspects who have already been arrested in connection with the controversial deal had their matter postponed to February 2021.
The bail of the accused range from R50 000 to R500 000.
Magashule, who is believed to be the eighth suspect, is expected to make his first appearance in the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court on Friday.
It is alleged, that the two companies who got the tender, subcontracted two other companies to do the job for just R21 million.
