The body of a 68-year-old man washed ashore in Aston Bay on Sunday. Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says it is believed that the man, whose name is known to SAPS, had drowned as a result of Saturday's freak waves that battered the coastline.

Ten people have died after two shacks burnt to the ground in the Eastern Cape. The two separate fires were reported in the Buffalo City Metro (BCM) and Nelson Mandela Bay respectively.

Two women are in police custody in Cape Town after police executed a search warrant on their premises in Brackenfell where fake Bok jerseys were found. Spokesperson Captain Frederick van Wyk says they followed up on information and secured a warrant for a local business in Fourie Street.

A farmer from Aberdeen accused of rape, human trafficking, intimidation and assault has been denied bail. Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Luxolo Tyali says they succesfully opposed the bail of 41-year-old Louis Lategan in the Graaff Reinet Magistrates Court. He says the magistrate agreed with the prosecution that Lategan failed to prove exceptional circumstances for his release on bail and was a flight risk.
