It’s been much awaited but it’s finally here. It’s the Starlet Cross, crafted to exceed expectations in design and safety. Starlet Cross represents quality driving at an affordable price. Not only will the Starlet Cross bolster the Crossover & SUV line-up, but it will also grow and cement Toyota’s stake in the compact car segment as well as in the Passenger category. It joins other affordable models in the compact car classification – including Vitz, Starlet and Urban Cruiser.
But not only is the Starlet Cross very good on tarred roads, it’s just as comfortable off-road, as we found out on launch. We went off track and off-road, driving some 75 kms on dirt roads east of Gauteng. The Cross handled very well in these not so kind terrains.

The new addition will certainly complement our existing and comprehensive passenger car line-up as they continue to uphold strong positions in their respective segments.”

Under the Bonnet

The 1.5-litre powertrain generates 77 kW at 6000 rpm, ensuring a pleasurable driving experience while maintaining optimal fuel efficiency. With a torque figure of 138 Nm at 4400 rpm, the engine offers seamless acceleration and responsive handling on every occasion, be it on gravel or tar.
Whether navigating urban streets or embarking on long-distance journeys, the Starlet Cross promises a balanced combination of performance and fuel efficiency, making it an ideal companion for both daily commuting and weekend adventures. Fuel consumption is exceptional at 5.6l/100km in the manual transmission and 5.8l/100km in the 4-speed automatic.
