The Government Tender Bulletin shows that SANRAL has started the process for contracts to build two multi-billion rand bridges, to form a new toll road between Durban and East London. The infamous N2 Wild Coast Toll Road which will be the new coastal highway. A number of civil groups have been fighting this for over 15 years. Those against it highlighted that commuters and industries would pay more than 30 % of total fees.
SANRAL,argue that a shorter , high speed route between Durban and East London will boost economic growth and improve the wealth of the people of the eastern cape.
They do deny that the contracts published are for this proposed toll road.
