Women sentenced for vandalising war memorial

Two women have been sentenced to 30 months in jail for vandalising the war memorial statue in Market Square in Uitenhage.

The sentence was suspended for five years.

However, the two Vuyokazi Voxeka and Nombulelo Mkwena, will have to do 250 hours of community service.

The pair had pleaded guilty to a charge of malicious damage to property and were sentenced in the Uitenhage Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
