It has taken a team of seven, three days, 1075km, and a few hours of sleep to move the historic Buccaneer aircraft to Nelson Mandela Bay from Cape Town.
The fighter aircraft is being moved to Gqeberha to undergo maintenance before it takes to the skies again.
Algoa FM was invited to watch the move by Grant Timms of Hanger51.
He says the aircraft which was designed in the 1950s will be joined by two more carriers in January and February next year.
Timms says the Buccaneer was one of the largest aircraft to operate from British aircraft carriers.
He says it continued operating from there until the last conventional carrier was withdrawn in 1978.
"During its service, the Buccaneer was the backbone of the Navy's ground strike operations, including a nuclear strike," Timms added.
