Victims of abuse must reach out, SAPS

File

Gqeberha police have made a plea to victims of abuse to reach out after the body of a woman was found in a house in Algoa Park on Saturday.

Spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said police were notified by a friend who feared that the woman may be in danger.

She said when police arrived at the house in Boekenhout Street they had to break the door to gain entry.

“The victim was found on the floor with multiple stab wounds. A male, age unknown, was found hanging in the bathroom,” Naidu said.

She said SAPS opened an inquest docket while a case of murder will also be investigated.

The names of the deceased have not yet been released.

“Police are urging victims of abuse to reach out for help as soon as possible. Support and professional help is available to provide assistance and guidance.”

Naidu also called on members of the community to report any signs of abuse they may be aware of, saying this could help prevent further harm and ensure  that appropriate action is taken.
