Victim told to hide under duvet while house is ransacked in GQ suburb

Gqeberha police are searching for five suspects who broke into a townhouse complex in Verdun Road, Lorraine on Wednesday.

Spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge says at about 2 am, the 53-year-old woman was woken by the suspects, all wearing balaclavas.

He says they let her cover herself with her duvet while they ransacked her home for valuables.

Beetge says a 9mm firearm, ammunition and jewellery were stolen before the suspects fled the scene.

The woman was not injured.

A case of house robbery is under investigation.
